The first step of the process for canvas was analyzing how camera companies market their products, and how their visual design shapes their brand.
One of the major issues with breaking into the camera market is finding a way to differentiate new products. Brand loyalty is very strong within the photography community, so there are two main approaches: provide features that professional photographers wanted that the big manufacturers couldn’t provide, or find a way to market hardware cameras to those who were relying primarily on smartphones.
A huge part of making this work was providing a user experience similar to those on smartphones, while still allowing it to be used in a professional capacity.
