Coming from a background in both design and technology, I have always seen design and engineering as tools that can be used to accomplish the goals of one another. As such, I am excited by companies that have a very strong design culture, where an obvious passion extends to the connections between design and engineering as well. Both in and out of my coursework at the University of Southern California, I have had a lot of experience working in multidisciplinary teams. Through these experiences, I have developed an ability to work effectively, adapt as my team needs me to, and plan around milestones with quick turnaround times.
Because of my deep interest in user experience and interaction design, I have had the opportunity to work in areas ranging from virtual reality to architecture, all driven by my strong focus on these UX and design principles. In the past year and a half, I have spent time working both independently and with an augmented reality startup with the goal of streamlining the process of creating interactive digital experiences. As a part-time employee at USC’s CAD Services Department, I have been able to support our Capital Planning and Construction Staff to most effectively take advantage of our mapping and GIS systems with the goal of increasing efficiency and safety. These projects have not only helped me grow as a developer, but they have also given me great insights into the power that well-designed tools can have in the workforce.
